Acanthinucella punctulata

Attached are pictures of Acanthinucella punctulata that Cecilia and I were able to key out earlier today in class. Also known as the Spotted Unicorn, this species belongs to the class Gastropoda, family Muricidae. It is a predatory snail that can be found along the western Pacific coast. Also known as the spotted thorn drupe due to the patterns of colorization visible on its shell and the thorny-like projections found along the outer lip of the shell. Photo credit: Cecilia Hernandez
